If you are travellers who love beauty, tastefulness, the atmosphere coming from Belle Époque and great histories, if you decide that Lourdes is a destination deserving your attention, if you want to feed your body with a high level cuisine and your spirit with the sight of one of the most important places of worship in the world, we recommend you to book a room in the hotel that was born in 1896 with the precise goal of being the most beautiful hotel of the town and whose realization exceeded all expectations.
Point of reference since the opening day, the Grand Hotel Moderne doesn’t limit itself to be surrounded by a wonderful framework, but it’s also a milestone of the history of the town. The realization of this extraordinary Classical-Baroque work was entrusted to the architect Jean-Marie Lacrampe, a real talented artist, who showed his skill also in the city hall of Lourdes, in Soum castle, in the ramps of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral and in Auzon school.
The elegant Grand Hotel boasts the employment of the most beautiful materials and of the most delicate decorations for its structure, choosing the style of Louis Majorelle - one of the most important designers of Art Nouveau pieces of furniture and pupil of Millet - for its splendid interiors. Rich decorations, refined wood and the wonderful mahogany stairs give to the structure a unique, stylish personality. Majorelle was also entrusted with the project of the refined restaurant of the hotel, to which it was given the same name of the artist, in a sort of tribute.
The Grand Hotel Moderne, during a recent renovation, decided to adopt Corbara’s hotel wear for its waiters and chambermaids. The uniform they chose for the waiters of the restaurant “La Majorelle” – that proposes the best courses of French and Italian cooking – is in tune with the excellent restaurant and suggests an atmosphere reminding rich and luxurious time periods.
In the restaurant, we can find the black vest for tailcoat: a men’s vest with 3 buttons and shawl collar, with the back made of lining, coordinated with the Trousers with satin bands, men’s trousers with pleat and side bands made of satin. Both garments are made of lightweight pure wool 100%. The uniform is completed with the men’s diplomatic shirt, a model with diplomatic collar, made of white Opera, 100% cotton, complete with cuff links.
Chambermaids, instead, wear the practical and refined Black dress, model Dalia: a women’s dress with three-quarter sleeves, closed from the waist up to the knee. The dress has a rear slash and a big pleat on the front. A white purse is supplied with this elegant dress, that is made of Gabardine satin (50% cotton, 50% polyester).
